At first I thought, what kind of cruel spectacle is this going to be, and its another "watch the crazy" moment, but it's not. This had me near tears, especially after going to a great spiritual breakfast this morning and hearing the most amazing speakers at the San Diego Spring Round Up. Take a look and listen...

I love the underdog and triumph over others thinking... again, another lesson learned that you can't judge a book by it's cover.

It's said a picture is worth a thousand words, but at the San Diego Swap Meet, you could pick it up for a buck. After getting out into the beautiful weekend weather, we went for a stroll and a few laughs at one of our favorite people watching sites. Here are some of the things and people one may run into while wandering the rows, enjoy. (Click to enlarge)

I still read on blogs and hear from other web designers the pain of making their sites' CSS code work properly in IE6 and the need to create hacks and work arounds because it is not supported properly. Well it also true that support for JavaScript is even more problematic for developers. As the new IE8 is launched, lets hope more people migrate up the chain to IE7 and its newer version.
So it made me laugh when I came across these landing pages I had to share... because it sums it all up! Harsh yes, but I love it too.

The peace treaty was signed by Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin on March 26, 1979. Islamists were enraged by Sadat's Sinai treaty with Israel, particularly the radical Egyptian Islamic Jihad.

Unfortunately not long thereafter was Anwar Sadat's assassination on October 6, 1981. He was gunned down at the annual victory parade in Cairo and it was a shock to the democratic world. His successor was then Vice President Hosni Mubarek.
On a recent trip I was able to tour the area and snapped these images of the memorial that was later built in his honor. Peace is the answer and his forward thinking is not forgotten.

(The following has been reported from a JTA.org staff writer)
Egypt's president reiterated his commitment to peace with Israel on the 30th anniversary of the Egypt-Israel peace deal. Speaking by telephone with Israeli President Shimon Peres, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said he has no intention of changing his policies with regard to peace with Israel, and that "whoever seeks war has never felt what war really is."

OK, it's finally here. Microsoft is expected to announce the final release of Internet Explorer 8.0 at MIX09 in Las Vegas today. It will be released to the public at 12.00 noon New York time (4pm UTC/GMT for us out here on the West coast) and be available for download from the Microsoft website.
This is the first major release for the browser since IE7 in October 2006. Since that time, both Apple and Google have entered the market with their own browsers and Mozilla released Firefox 3.0, with v3.5 coming soon.
Microsoft claims that IE8:
* is almost 50% faster than other browsers at page loading
* offers quicker browsing with Accelerators
* allows websites designed for older browsers to be “fixed” using the Compatibility View button
* helps you keep up to date with news and other information with Web Slices, and
* blocks two to four times the amount of malware caught by rival browsers
As long as non compliant IE6 slowly disappears into the far, far distance I will be forever grateful as a web developer; far too much incompatibility with CSS and other code. Are you excited about IE8? Will you install it as soon as it is available? Are new browsers offering any real innovation?
UPDATE: After being released IE8 seems to be the slowest browser after being tested by Computerworld. Firefox proved to be 59% faster than IE8, while Safari was 47% faster. Opera, the slowest non-Microsoft production browser, was still 38% faster than IE8. Tisk, tisk, some programmers have some 'splain'n to do Lucy...
