Steven Seagal’s “Lawman” scores big ratings!

steven-seagal-lawmanDave and I love watching the crazy, senseless violence of a Steven Seagal movie. For some odd reason it relaxes me! He is an aikido master and as time has moved on apparently so has Steven - to other careers. I remember when he first came on the, back in the days of Chuck Norris and Jean Claude Van Damme, rumors swirled of his past affiliation with the CIA and other such shady shenanigans. and a feature article in Vanity Fair raised even more of his questionable background and friends. The past couple of years has seen his career decline to lesser known roles and theaters in very bad, D-List production movies. But he is still working and he is still getting paid. Regardless if they go straight to video!
One of those "laughing all the way to the bank" stories I guess.

So I thought I would insert a clip here of one of our favorite movies, an early one: "Above the Law"

Well now he is on another venture, something he has been dong now for several years... and now it comes to television. Steven Segal Lawman premiered on A&E Wednesday night and brought in a record breaking 3.5 million viewers, making it the network's most-watched original series premiere. Go figure!

Blago is stayin’ put

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich isn't going anywhere anytime soon! After corruption charges, scandal and possible jail time the Bob's Big Boy look-a-like still haunts the media. Aren't is 15 minutes of fame over yet?

blagojevichThe defunct politician had requested travel adjustments so he could appear on I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and was just shut down by Judge James Zagel, who said, "I do not have confidence that things will not go astray if I modify bond conditions."

Blagojevich was all set to travel to Costa Rica to shoot the reality TV show in order to help pay for his impending legal costs.

NBC released a statement saying, "NBC is disappointed in the court's decision today regarding Rod Blagojevich's participation on I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! but excited about the casting announcement for the show this Friday. There are no plans to move the show to a location in the United States."

Guess that Blagojevich is just gonna have to make money the old-fashioned way - with a job! It amazes me that producers would even consider him someone the public would be interested in seeing on a show. Are we that desparate? Not me.

Sultry Magic

I just love Diana Krall's voice and talent. The woman is so easy on the eyes and she simply warms my heart.
She is also married to the great and multi-talented Elvis Costello; what a pair! A recent visit on Late NIght with David Letterman... enjoy!

Preach it Tony!

news-graphics-2007-_652018a

The former British Prime Minster has called for a "quiet revolution in thinking," suggesting that the Pope might not be as in touch with public opinion as he could be.

Especially when it comes to homosexuality!

Blair says, "There are many good and great things the Catholic Church does, and there are many fantastic things this Pope stands for, but I think what is interesting is that if you went into any Catholic Church, particularly a wellattended one, on any Sunday here and did a poll of the congregation, you’d be surprised at how liberal-minded people were."

Blair converted to Catholicism in 2007.

The new convert says, "When people quote the passages in Leviticus condemning homosexuality, I say to them — if you read the whole of the Old Testament and took everything that was there in a literal way, as being what God and religion is about, you’d have some pretty tough policies across the whole of the piece."

Traveling on behalf of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, which aims to promote understanding of different faiths, Blair says he believes it is time for religious leaders to reevaluate their texts as more metaphorical than literal, and come to terms with homosexuality, because that's the direction the next generation is moving in anyway.

He says, "I think there is a generational shift that is happening. If you talk to the older generation, yes, you will still get a lot of pushback, and parts of the Bible quoted, and so on. But if you look at the younger generation of evangelicals, this is increasingly for them something that they wish to be out of — at least in terms of having their position confined to being anti-gay."

This coincides with his Southern California day and a half tour, which includes a town hall meeting in Costa Mesa and a tour of an electric vehicle plant in Pomona.

Set your DVRs for this one!

Smelly cat, oh smelly cat…

img_5740I always crack up when I think of Phoebe who sang those lines on the NBC hit Friends. What brings it to mind is my cat Trevor is either always wanting to be on my lap when I work, or if I ignore him, he proceeds to assume the position on my keyboard.

Well my buddy just yawned (holy smokes the breath, hence "smelly cat") and seems to want me to go to bed where he can be comfortable sleeping on my shoulder all night. I think he feels the highest level of sight gives him the best position to be in the know. Until tomorrow...
